Got questions about learning to dive?

Here are the answers to the 3 questions we hear the most from new divers

Yes for all courses like PADI Open Water or Discover Scuba Diving, you need basic swimming skills and need to feel comfortable in the water.
Usually this means:

  • Swimming about 200 meters/yards
  • Floating or treading water for 10 minutes

People often think they need to be an athlete, but basic comfort in the water is what really matters.

Most beginner certifications take 2–3 days, depending on:

  • Schedule flexibility
  • Whether theory is done online first
  • Ocean conditions and student pace

Courses are typically split into:

  • Theory/eLearning
  • Confined water sessions
  • Open water dives

This is probably the #1 concern from new divers.
The short answer: scuba diving is considered very safe when:

  • You follow training
  • Dive within limits
  • Use proper equipment
  • Dive with a buddy
